Located on Hermosa Ave, in the heart of Hermosa Beach, is Laurel Tavern. It’s rustic interior and half-open patio seating make it an enjoyable atmosphere for anyone. We had the pleasure of meeting the cousins and hilarious duo behind the bar, Tony Valiani and General Manager Lee Farrell. Their infectious personalities and wide knowledge of beer and hard alcohol made our experience that much more amazing! After sampling a handful of drinks and food, here are a few of our favorites – some of which will be making their debut on Laurel Tavern’s Fall menu.
Pina Colada: After two years of mixing up different recipes and concoctions, the perfect – not blended – Pina Colada recipe was born. This includes, coconut cream, lime juice, a touch of pineapple, plantation pineapple rum, white rum and a few secret ingredients you’ll just have to go into figure out.
The Best Old Fashioned: old forester, amaro, benedictine, cherry bitters
Watermelon Fresca Cocktail: vodka, watermelon, cucumber, mint, lime
Berry Blitz: jim beam, strawberries, ginger, honey, lemon, rhubarb bitters
As a bonus, GM Lee Farrell, gave the Hermosa Local team a sneak peek at their newest drink, possibly to be named, The Good Looking Stranger. Check out the time-lapse below for how it’s made!
Aside from the incredibly delicious drinks, their food is something to go back for. We had the pleasure of trying the Crispy Chicken Sandwich (we had two), Fish Tacos, and Pork Belly Skewers. Each were absolutely delicious, but the Pork Belly Skewers are a definite stand out and must try.
Laurel Tavern’s new Fall menu will be hitting the restaurant within the month featuring specials such as $3 Tacos, $5 Margaritas and Tequila Tuesday! Make your way to this Hermosa hot spot soon, hours listed below:
